Sabine received her PhD from the University of Toronto in 2005, where she worked under the supervision of the late Dr. Tony Pawson.

Between 2005 and 2009, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Cell Biology at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Munich, Germany, where she conducted postdoctoral studies on signaling mechanisms during mitosis under the supervision of Erich Nigg.

She returned to Canada in 2010 to join the CHU de Québec research center as an independent researcher and the pediatrics department of Laval University.

Chantal obtained a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of Sherbrooke in 1994 and a master's degree in plant biology from Laval University in 1996.

Since 1996, she has worked as a research professional, first on the protection of white spruce against the budworm with Francine Tremblay's team (1996-1997), then in biological control with Nicole Benhamou (1997-2004).

She then joined the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec Research Center to work with Michel Lebel on Werner Aging Syndrome (WRN) (2004-2017). Since 2017, she has been collaborating with Sabine Elowe's team to better understand and prevent aneuploidy.

Benjamin obtained a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and a master's degree in cell biology, both from the University of Sherbrooke.

Since 2022, he has worked as a research associate at the CHU de Québec - Université Laval Research Center. Benjamin's research has focused on various human pathologies, including cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and metabolic disorders. He has studied the molecular mechanisms of cellular pH regulation, chemoresistance, DNA damage response, and cell cycle control.

Benjamin is a big movie buff and on weekends he often escapes into fantasy stories like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings or enjoys outdoor activities. His favorite way to spend his money is to visit Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida.

Suparba received his Master of Research degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland.

While in the UK, she studied the role of p53 and copper metabolism in liver disease in the Humpton lab. Overall, Suparba is passionate about proteins and science. She sees proteins as nanomachines that orchestrate life and beyond, and are responsible for our very existence!

Although an introvert, she enjoys spending time with close friends, colleagues and family. She loves baking with her daughter and relaxing with her four-legged companion (a rescue from India).

Quentin is a French student from Paris, where he obtained his master's degree from the Sorbonne University in 2023.

He studied and learned in various leading European biomedical research centers (Cochin Institute - Paris, NavarraBiomed - Pamplona, Spain), where he specialized in pathological signaling pathways. He came to Quebec to study an innovative structure at the kinetochore: the fibrous corona.

He is working with experts Dr. Elowe and Dr. Lambert from the CHU de Québec research center to elucidate this mitotic structure and its signaling mechanisms.

When he's not in the lab, he enjoys reading philosophy, eating oysters while sailing, kickboxing, and backpacking. He doesn't like bureaucracy, washing dishes in cold water, or working with mice, ever.

PhD Candidate

In 2016, Katheryn completed her college studies in Laboratory Technology-Biotechnology Pathway at Cégep de Lévis-Lauzon.

She obtained her Master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at Université Laval under the supervision of Dr. Sabine Elowe (Researcher in the Reproduction, Maternal and Child Health Axis at Université Laval) and is now pursuing a PhD in the same team.

Romain obtained his bachelor's degree and his master's degree in biotechnology, with a biochemistry option, at the University of La Rochelle, in France.

In September 2019, he began his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Sabine Elowe and Dr. Mathieu Laplante at the CHU de Québec Research Center (Université Laval). His PhD work focused on understanding the regulatory role of a transcription factor in the cell cycle (entry into the cell cycle and mitosis).

His areas of interest include transcription dynamics as well as mechanisms involved in cancer adaptation and evolution.
