In Brief

Gama Braga et al. examine functions of the pseudokinase domain of the BUBR1

spindle checkpoint protein and demonstrate that it is required for the

phosphorylation of the kinetochore alignment regulatory domain. This

promotes efficient recruitment of the PP2A-B56 phosphatase to the kinetochore to silence the spindle checkpoint and facilitate chromosome alignment.
